3-day course – Must be assessed against a high-risk activity
 

This course is designed for candidates who will be responsible for controlling entry and arrangements for confined spaces at the point of work without actually entering them.
 

Course Content - Theory

• Legislation and dangers associated with confined spaces/hazardous spaces

• Recognition of confined spaces NC1, NC2, NC3 and NC4

• Safe systems of work, work permits, and risk assessments

• Emergency procedures

• Understand SSOW

• Control safe entry and exit to the confined space including pre-entry brief to the entry team

• Implement emergency arrangements effectively

• Understand the need for incident reporting
   

Course Content - Practical

• Safe use of confined space equipment including SCBA

• Pre-entry safety checks

• Practical assessment

• Emergency procedures

• Equipment care and maintenance regimes
